Penguin and Gang for the Batman Miniatures Game

Another gang in the bag ready for some BMG gaming.  I've got to say that compared to the Joker's gang these were a joy to put together, just the usual gap filling to do as on any metal model but otherwise they went together like a dream.
The only sort of issue I had was with what sort of paint scheme to give them, I liked the Knight Models scheme so based it on that but I had to decide on whether to paint a camo design or not.  Initially I was going to do this but after seeing some of the great paint jobs from the community (over at the Arkham City Limits group on Facebook) which didn't go with camo I decided to save myself some time and go with simple grey gear for them.  The other decision to make was whether to paint Sickle's tattoos, as this is something I hadn't done before, but as he wouldn't look right without them I watched an online tutorial and proceeded to give it a go.  Though not brilliant I'm quite happy with the results for a first attempt.

Now enough with the writing and on to the miniatures:

Though I still have some Batman miniatures to go through I'll be taking a break from them as the impending Terminator Miniatures Game will hopefully be in my hands soon...

Lord Of The Rings army lists for Kings of War 2.0

As some of you may or may not be aware Mantic has been polishing up the KOW rules and army lists in preparation of a new rule book which is coming later in the year.  So to go hand in hand with this I have overhauled the LOTR army lists I created to play with KOW so that they are compatible with the new 2.0 version.

Quite a bit has changed on the lists, points costs are totally revamped as is magic use and some stat lines have been updated.  You'll also notice some new unit entries, I was contacted by Andrew Sharp who had enjoyed playing mass battle games of LOTR using my lists but he wanted to use some of the units he had in his collection which I hadn't yet added so he created his own and sent them on to me.  I've tweaked them slightly and have now brought them in line with KOW 2.0 so you can now have fun playing with the Sons of Eorl et al!
I'd also like to mention the 'special' characters in the lists.  For KOW players these stat lines will look overpowered and too 'Hero Hammer' and I admit for a standard game of KOW they are, however these characters are only for use in massive battles and are used to represent some of the epic action we saw them perform on the big screen (shield surfing Legolas I'm looking at you).

I hope you have fun using these lists and I'd love to hear any feedback you have, remember these lists are a constant work in progress and I'll undoubtedly be tweaking them once they've seen some more action on the tabletop.

Terminator Genisys: The Miniatures Game

Well today is the day that the new game from Alessio Cavatore's River Horse Games goes up for pre-order, Terminator Geneisys: The Miniatures Game.

I've been keeping a close eye on the game since finding out about it and I think fans of the LOTR SBG might like some of what Alessio is trying to achieve with the game, not necessarily in the mechanics of the game (more of which you can find out about through a series of ongoing videos https://youtu.be/TVwxNwmZTmU) but in the size of the game and it's release structure.  If both the film and game does well then we can expect a new boxed game with each film (as Genisys is the start of a trilogy) along with additional character and unit releases based that tie in to each specific film and finally once the last film is out they be a nice hardback book released which complies all the rules and profiles etc.

Once the boxed game arrives at my door in early June I hope to do an unboxing post for it.

Joker and the Circus Gang

I've been a little quiet on here of late however my current project has finally been completed after a month of working on them (on and off), so I can finally present the Joker and his Circus Gang

I've got to say these have to be my favourite crew for BMG and I'll be looking to expand them later on with some more members.

However to rewind a little, when I first put these to my desk it was evident some work was going to be needed on them before I could get the first lick of paint down.

There were a few sizeable gaps that needed filling, particularly on the Titan Thug as well as on Harley's mid-section and one of the gang members had a forearm which hadn't cast, so I set to work with both traditional Green Stuff and the liquid variety.  After a week of tinkering they were ready for the base coat.

You'll notice I'm using resin bases/base toppers and I do this because I think they really help to give the miniatures that Gotham feel.  The ones I'm using are the Temple Ruins range from Fenris Games but they work well as a decrepit sidewalk.

After I had given the minis the usual Pound Shop black car spray base coat it was on to picking the colour scheme for crew.  I wasn't overly taken with the vanilla prison gear from the games (though there's nothing wrong with it) as I wanted something decidedly more Jokerish.  Luckily I was perusing through the BMG facebook group and found my inspiration, Dan Halstead had just done a crew in Joker colours and it looked great so I headed to the paint box and started to pick out all the required colours.  One thing I wanted to try out this time was not to use washes as much or at all if possible (which I didn't quite manage) and instead use layers to build up the shades and bar the green I thought it went very well.  Unfortunately for the green I just couldn't get it right and ended up re-doing it twice but I'm glad I did as I'm happy with the end results.

Enough of the text now and on to the pictures:

Mr. J

Harley Quinn

Titan Thug

Ringmaster

Clown (Shield)

August

Clown (Knife)

Contra-Auguste

Sniggering

Triston

While I was set up to take photos I took the opportunity to retake ones for the other BMG miniatures I had already completed (being much more able to take a half decent photo now), so here they are:

Batman

Commissioner Gordon and SWAT Team

Scarecrow

The Demon's Head and League of Assassins

That's everything for now, as usual I'd love to hear your comments and criticism.
Next up on the desk will be Penguin and his crew.
