Hellboy The Boardgame: The Baddies and a Stranger

The next batch of Hellboy minis has been finished off and this time it's sone of the iconic monsters and evil doers of the Hellboy world (and a Stranger who stayed).

Again I've been having a lot of fun painting these up but my favourite from this batch is St. Leonard's Wyrm, there's just something about the sculpt which I can't put my finger on but I love it.

Then finally we have the first of the good characters, the Stranger.

This means that the next batch of minis will be the start of the B.P.R.D

Hellboy The Boardgame: German characters and monsters

Continuing on with the Hellboy marathon and I'm at 99 miniatures in 6 days, unbelievable.

First up are the German characters, absolutely loved painting these iconic villains.  Rasputin, Ilsa, Kroenen, Von Klempt, Unmensch, Kriegaffe and the Conqueror Worm.
I think I've managed to pull off a good likeness to their comic book selves but the Conqueror Worm was a real challenge.  I had to thin down the paints a apply them in layers to get that fade to black and though not a spot on likeness I think it does the job.

Next we have the generic monsters from the build your own adventure expansion.  Though generic all have been featured in a Hellboy story at some stage.

Next I'm on to the monster characters.

Hellboy The Boardgame: Frog Monsters

One thing I'll give using contrast paints is the speed which you can get miniatures painted!
Another day and another batch finished, this time the Frog Monsters.

Nice and simple to paint, just a selection of greens for variety, and anything with a texture like these really helps the contrast paints do what they do best.

Hellboy The Boardgame: Germans

Yet again it's been a while since posting here and that's mainly because I've not actually had any completed work to show.  Instead I've been working through my Chaos Marine backlog for 40k, which thanks to the current lockdown I've managed to entirely build and undercoat all of my Black Legion and Death Guard.  However after spending months building 40k I needed a change and I've been itching to get get started on something that I could get done in a short space of time, Hellboy.

My idea to get these done quickly was to use contrast paints but I wanted to get that heavily shadowed look that Mike Mignola has so I sprayed the miniatures black before spraying them top down with the contrast gray.  Though it hasn't worked as I'd planned it does give the miniatures a nice dark tone that works very well.

Here's a couple of shoes of the undercoated Frog  Monsters which are up next.
