Stargate Update: General Hammond

I cracked on this weekend with General Hammond and managed to get him finished.  I had a bit of trouble painting his head (I couldn't get the highlights just right for some reason) but my persistence paid off and I think he looks pretty good now.

Next up is a key member of every SG team, the lynch pin for every episode...

... MALP ;)

I've just started work on this but there's not too much more to go, the hazard marking need finishing off and then weathering a bit and I'll be adding a bit of dust and grime to the wheels and sides.

Stargate Update: SG5

Another quick update as SG5 have now been completed:

Apologies for the bad photo (I just couldn't get it right this time) but I will be taking proper shots once the project has been completed.  I'm now moving on to General Hammond after which I just have the Stargate, DHD, MALP and Ark to paint which should be done pretty quickly.

Stargate Update: SG1

Just a quick post as I've now finished off SG1, these are some of the nicest miniatures I've painted and I wanted to do them justice:

I'll now be moving on to SG5 after which the end will be in sight!

Stargate Update

Just a quick update today showing some more progress as I've now completed the Goa'uld faction miniatures.  I will be taking proper photos once the project as a whole is finished so you'll have to forgive the quality (though the new phone is a lot better at taking snaps than the last one).

Jaffa Heavy Staff Weapons

First Primes - the one on the right is a conversion using a Crooked Dice head and some green stuff for the collar

The Goa'uld - I just had to remove a mace from the one on the right as it wasn't in keeping but otherwise they are as is (from Crocodile Games).  This is also the first time I've really painted dark skin so was happy with the results.

Next up is SG1 who received their first undercoat this morning.

Stargate Gaming

It's been a little while since I posted anything but I haven't been idle (plus there was a rather splendid two week holiday in the Lakes during that time as well) and have been working through my Stargate miniatures.
I picked the Jaffa up for this a few years ago at Sheffield Triples and have been slowly adding to the collection from a variety of companies until I'm now at the point where the bug to get them done has taken me.  So far I've been working on the Jaffa and just finished up all the standard troops this morning with the First Primes and heavy gunners next:

Batch one with the base coat done

Batch one completed

Batch two completed - as you can see I have two different types of Jaffa which will allow for three way games

Batch three W.I.P.

Batch three completed and the First Primes and heavy gunners set to go

I'll post again once I have finished the Primes and gunners with a bit more about them as one of the Primes and the gunners are actually old official miniatures where as the second prime is a minor conversion by me.

Conan by Monolith Games

The finally arrived when Conan (wave one) landed at our doors and oh what a day.  The box was large and heavy and it contained some fantastic miniatures which will not only be used for the game itself but will also be used for the RPG by Modiphius and due to the amount of miniatures received games of Conan Rampant are not out of the question.
I'm keeping the text to a minimum and will let the photos do the talking so without further ado (I've kept the photos larger than usual so you can hopefully see a bit more)...

The Big Box

The game box and contents

There is another tray of 'minions' which in my excitement I forget to photograph

The stretch goals box and contents

The add on boxes

The guest artist boxes

As you can see that is quite the horde however this is not it all and a second wave of miniatures is due next year which will comprise all of the expansions, I can't wait!

Latest Arrivals

Just a quick post to cover a couple of latest arrivals that warrant a post of their own.

First up is the re-print of the classic board game, Escape From Colditz.  I don't know about you bu I played many a game of this when I was a younger lad and loved it, hopefully the game hasn't lost any of it's appeal with the passage of time.  One thing I will say right now is that the box and presentation of the game is top notch, plenty of time and effort has gone into making this something worth having.

The second arrival was another beauty, the Dropship from Aliens for the AvP game.  It looks like this will be getting some manner of rules in an upcoming expansion which is planned which will certainly be interesting to see.
